Easton Softball Bat Reviews - Easton SX50B Reflex Softball BatsIt should be pointed out that the Easton SX50B Reflex is made for a specific type of hitter - one with fast hands (it is a heavy bat), with consistent contact (it has a tiny barrel), and with power (it is an end load with the sweet spot out toward the tip). As a result they had a hard time getting comfortable with the bat. While no one denied that the Easton SX50B has great pop - about as good as you can get for aluminum - the drawback was that making contact was not good enough in itself; you have to make quality contact to get the reward of a monster drive. This is not a bat for everyone. Weaker hitters need the advantage of the bottle bat's long barrel and large hitting surface. And with SX50B Reflex having an inner frame and an exterior shell that both need to flex in order to get top performance, a certain amount of bat speed is needed for success. This bat is best for Elite high school and college players. The girls were pleased with the distance they were getting out of this bat. And of course the more they used it, the more frequent those drives became. But many of them said they would likely have given up on the bat before hitting it the 75-150 times it takes to become comfortable with it. The sweet spot is small, a necessity with the smaller barrel, but it works well when the hitters get their hands through the hitting zone quickly. Slap hitters had almost no luck with it. The Easton SX50B Reflex is a minus-8 ounces to inches ratio bat and is available only in 33" and 34".
